What we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Effective date: October 24, 2026
The Common Sense for America Party ("the Party," "we," "us") operates commonsenseforamerica.org. We are currently organized as a political action committee registered with the Federal Election Commission as Common Sense for America (FEC ID C00948042). This policy explains what information we collect through this site, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what we need to build the movement and follow federal law, we don't sell or rent your personal information, and you can ask us to stop contacting you at any time.
When you subscribe to our newsletter, volunteer, contact us, or donate, you may give us:
Like most websites, our servers and service providers automatically receive basic technical information when you visit, such as your browser type, device type, the pages you view, the site that referred you, and an approximate location based on your IP address. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as pages visited and time on site; you can opt out with Google's browser add-on. We don't use this information to identify you personally, and we don't sell it.
Federal law requires us to use our best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation, and employer of each person whose contributions add up to more than $200 in an election cycle. That information is filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and becomes public record. Federal law also prohibits anyone from using contributor information from FEC reports to solicit contributions or for commercial purposes.
Online contributions are processed by a third-party payment processor. We don't store your full card or bank account number on our systems. Federal law also requires us to keep contribution records for at least three years after the reports that include them are filed, so we can't delete those records on request during that time.
If you give us your mobile number and opt in to text messages, we may text you updates and requests to take action. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help. Consent to receive texts is never a condition of donating or volunteering. We don't share your mobile number or your text-message consent with anyone else for their own marketing.
We don't sell or rent your personal information. We share it only in these situations:
We don't share our lists with any candidate's campaign or any other political committee without your permission.
Our site uses the cookies needed for it to work, plus the Google Analytics cookies described above. Embedded content from other services, such as a donation form or a video, may set its own cookies under that service's privacy policy. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
If the laws of your state give you additional privacy rights, contact us and we'll honor them as the law requires.
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections, limited access, and multi-factor authentication on our accounts. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we take it seriously. Our founder runs an IT company, and he expects nothing less.
This site isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Volunteers under 18 need a parent or guardian's permission.
Our site links to other websites, including government sources and news outlets. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we're not responsible for their practices.
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the effective date. If we make a significant change in how we use your information, we'll tell you before it takes effect.
